According to the Pew Research Center, as of January 1, 2011, the oldest Baby Boomer turned 65 and every day for the next 19 years (until 2030), 10,000 boomers will turn age 65.  Boomers enjoy an active lifestyle but may be thinking about housing options.  If you are one of those people, you are not alone!  You have several options for maintaining an active lifestyle and finding a home where you can grow into your twilight years gracefully.  Here are some of them.

Relocate

Perhaps you are thinking about moving to a warmer climate.  According to Next Avenue, the top five cities for retirement are: Asheville, NC; Sarasota, FL; Venice, FL Beaufort, SC; and Fort Myers, FL.

Rightsize near Family and Friends

You want to stay in the area but need less space and yard.  You can build a new ranch home with all the options you want.  There are several choices of styles and locations for new build homes in the greater Indianapolis area.  The builders finally got wise and realize, there is a strong market for ranch style homes.  If you are thinking about an existing one level home, here are some stats for a variety of price points in Fishers:

$200,000 – $250,000 – 9 properties available (1 with a basement);

$260,000 – $400,000 – 20 properties available (1 is an attached home);

$410,000 – $760,000 – 15 properties available.

Stay in Your Home

Perhaps, you love your home and can’t bear the thought of leaving it.  There are several options for you.  You can hire people to do the work for you and obtain a Reverse Mortgage to give you extra income to stay in your home.
