Magnificent Month of May

Posted

This month I thought I would take a step back from real estate and take a look at the month of May. What a great month…full of excitement and activities.

Here at the beginning of the month Indiana was in the national election news. While you may have mixed emotions about the candidates and the policies presented, it was exciting to see Indiana on the national scene.

Of course, we have Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8th (which is also my mother’s 90th birthday). There a lot of nice places to take your Mom for brunch or lunch and the weather is predicted to be nice.

In Indiana, if it is May, then our thoughts turn to racing! I grew up in Illinois and when I moved to Indiana I soon realized that MAY is RACE MONTH. This year, All activities, news and parties will revolve around the race because it is the special 100th running of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”. Practice begins on Monday, May 16th with the Gates opening at 10 a.m., Rookie Orientation Program at 12 p.m. and practice from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Qualifying days are Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22 (Kids 12 & under are free with paying adult). Miller Lite Carb Day is Friday, May 27. Legends Day – honoring past Champions is Saturday, May 28 and then of course the BIG DAY is Sunday, May 29th.

We end the month with Memorial Day, (Monday, May 30th) the day our nation has set aside for those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. The holiday began after the Civil Way in 1868 when the day was established for the nation to decorate the soldiers’ graves with flowers. Originally, the Union and the Confederate states established different days but by the 20th Century, the days were merged to the last Monday of May to honor all those who died in Military service.

If you know anyone who is relocating to Indiana, I would love to help them with their move. Please know, I will take good care of them!
